Talk: Restoration of a Louise Nevelson sculpture with art conservator, Sarah Nunberg

Design Nation’s second salon event celebrated the enduring importance and impact of artist, Louise Nevelson by exploring details of her permanent 1977 sculptural environment at Saint Peter’s Church on Lexington Avenue, Manhattan. Sarah Nunberg, fine art conservator, presented a talk on her research and restoration of this celebrated installation, along with her colleagues Katie Patton Bell and Julianna Ly. Guests enjoyed an in-depth, behind the scenes look at the their professional assessment of the work, its materiality and the restoration procedure. Up for landmark status and designed by Hugh Stubbins & Associates in 1977, Saint Peter's Church boasts Caledonia granite throughout the exterior as well as interior, which is designed by Vignelli Associates. The church is home to remarkable works of art and design by Lella & Massimo Vignelli, Kiki Smith, Ann Sherwin Bromberg and others.
